Con una pioggia torrenziale che ha paralizzato gran parte di Berlino, il Nike SB Shelter ha raggiunto pienamente il suo nome rimanendo asciutto e accolto in pieno gli skater europei per la giornata di qualificazione del Nike SB Berlin Open 17
Le run iniziali hanno tirato fuori 10 skaters che sono avanzati per raggiungere le qualifiche nel pomeriggio e scontrarsi con i riders invitati , facendo così un totale di 66 persone che hanno colpito il concrete park nel sabato pomeriggio.
Le heat comprendevano 3 minuti, 3 jam Uomini che hanno visto una feroce competizione fin dall’inizio, un ampio campo che ha mostrato una grande varietà di stili, di tecnicità e di età da 23 nazioni rappresentate. Alle 14, i due skaters più giovani Jonas Carlsson e Herman Moller hanno attaccato il park con velocità e determinazione, ma anche con l’aria di aspettarsi che avrebbero fatto la loro strada nel Semifinali di domenica, che entrambi hanno ottenuto comodamente rispettivamente al 6 ° e al 7 ° posto.
Anche lo skater locale Justin Sommer è passato, mescolando velocità e stile, e può essere un serio contendente per la vittoria finale.
Yannick Schall, un prodotto nato nel park, conosce ogni centimetro dello Shelter e lo ha rappresentato in pieno ottenendo un terzo posto. Seconda posizione per il sudamericano Matias Dell Olio che ha dato una dimostrazione del controllo del piede supremo e prima posizione per Vincent Milou che ha gareggiato anche lo scorso anno ed ha chiaramente migliorato il suo bagaglio di trocks negli ultimi 12 mesi dimostrando il miglior flow di giornata, usando tutte le strutture del park con un livello e la fiducia che gli ha assegnato la posizione di miglior qualifica.

Le Semifinali inizieranno oggi alle 15 presso il Nike SB Shelter con i 30 riders qualificati che competeranno per accaparrarsi un montepremi di ben 20.000 euro.

Initial rounds pulled out 10 skaters that would move through to meet invited riders, making a total of 66 that hit the concrete Saturday afternoon.
Heats comprising of 3 minute, 3 man jams saw fierce completion from the start, a wide field showcasing a huge diversity of styles, technicality and age from 23 countries represented. At 14, the two youngest skaters Jonas Carlsson and Herman Moller attacked the park with speed and determination but also with the air of expectation that they would make their way into Sunday’s Semis, which they both comfortably did placing 6th and 7th respectively.
Also making it through was local rager Justin Sommer who, if he lands on everything he was throwing today mixed with his speed and style, is a serious contender for podium spot
Yannick Schall, a product born of the park, knows his way around every inch of the Shelter and represented to the full today by taking 3rd in the rankings. Board dancing his way into 2nd with South American flair, Matias Dell Olio gave an demonstration of supreme foot control and was only out done by Vincent Milou who podiumed last year and has clearly uped his game and his bag over the last 12 months demonstrating the best flow of the day, hitting up pretty much every feature in the park with a level and confidence that awarded him the top qualifying position.

Expect the atmosphere to be red lining at the Shelter for Sunday’s Semis, practice starts at 12.00 with the event kicking off at 15.00 where the 30 qualified riders will compete for a total prize purse of €20,000.
