Pultroppo Leo Fioravanti non è riuscito a conquistare la finale del Pro Junior dell’Hurley Australian Open of Surfing, battuto dal forte australiano di Margaret River Jacob Willcox.
Il mondo surfistico conosce già le potenzialità del giovane australiano, campione Under 16 degli ISA World Junior, per aver battuto Kelly Slater al Round 2 del Rip Curl Pro Portugal 2013, e oggi il sedicenne ha ottenuto una delle più grandi vittorie della sua carriera contro la futura promessa del surf mondiale Leo Fioravanti.
Solamente 0,6 punti hanno separato i due dalla sirena finale. Con piccole onde di 1-2 piedi di media in condizioni difficili, Leo ha tenuto il comando per buona parte della gara, non riuscendo però a trovare le onde giuste nel finale per superare Willcox.
Willcox nell’intervista ha dichiarato: “E’ stata molto combattuta, sono così entusiasta! Leo è un grande surfista, ha avuto la possibilità di superarmi nei minuti finali e c’è mancato davvero poco, è stato comunque fortissimo durante tutto il contest. Adoro surfare, mi piacciono le competizioni e sto vivendo davvero un bel periodo. Ho raggiunto i quarti di finali ad altri due eventi dall’inizio dell’anno, sono molto soddisfatto di averne vinto uno ora!”
Comunque una gran prestazione di Leo, che si conferma tra i top surfer Under 20 del Mondo, regalandoci anche in questo evento tante emozioni.

Only 0.6 points separated the two by the final siren . With small waves of 1-2 feet average in difficult conditions, Leo took the lead for most of the race , but unable to find the right waves in the final to overcome Willcox .
Willcox said in an interview : “It ‘ was hard fought , I’m so excited!
