MANLY BEACH, NSW/AUS (Lunedì 10 Febbraio 2014) – Oggi è partito il Round Inaugurale per l’ASP &-star Qualifyng Series division all’Hurley Australian Open of Surfing nello spot di Manly Beach. L’evento è partito attraverso 24 heat della gara e ha visto 48 surfisti eliminati e 48 avanzare nel secondo Round di 96, che prenderà il via domani. L’azione non si è fermata per tutto il giorno ed i migliori surfisti del mondo non hanno deluso, si sono visti air mostruosi e grandi carvate ed i surfers hanno lottato per il più importante evento dell’ASP Qualifyng Series per punteggio e montepremi.
Slade Prestwich (ZAF) e Dane Reynolds (USA) hanno dato spettacolo in una delle manche più divertenti della giornata, con entrambi i surfisti avanzare rispettivamente al primo e secondo posto. Prestwich ha surfato la heat perfetta, ottenendo due ottimi punteggi nelle difficili condizioni di bassa marea, guadagnandosi uno dei due più alti di heat della giornata – 16.10 su un massimo di 20.
Reynolds ha deciso di surfare la heat da solo, remando lungo la spiaggia e surfando un bank tutto da solo.Anche se alla fine ha funzionato , i suoi fans hanno sofferto un’attesa nervosa, dato che dopo 6 onde il suo punteggio era un 3.10.. Nella settima ha cambiato marcia, caricando una raffica di colpi in backhand, guadagnando un 7.86 (su un massimo di 10), che poi ha sostenuto con un 6.13.

MANLY BEACH, NSW/AUS (Monday, 10th February, 2014) – Today the opening round of the men’s ASP 6-Star Qualifying Series division at the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing hit the water at Manly Beach. The event ploughed through 24 heats of competition and saw 48 surfers eliminated and 48 advance into the seeded Round of 96 that will get underway tomorrow. The action didn’t stop all day and the world’s best surfers didn’t disappoint, there was monster airs and gouging turns as they fought for all-important ASP Qualifying Series ranking’s points and prize-money.
Slade Prestwich (ZAF) and Dane Reynolds (USA) put on a show in one of the most entertaining heats of the day with both surfers advancing in first and second place respectively. Prestwich surfed a near flawless heat, posting two excellent scores in the tricky low tide conditions, earning one of the highest two wave heat totals of the day – 16.10 out of a possible 20.
Reynolds decided to surf the heat solo, paddling up the beach and surfing a bank all by himself. Although it worked in the end, his fans suffered a nervous wait as it took him six waves to score over a 3.10. On wave number seven he switched into gear, unloading a barrage of backhand blasts, earning a 7.86 (out of a possible 10), that he then backed up with a 6.13.
