The Hawaiian surfer was stopped and detained by the police on Thursday, November 22, at 9:23 am, in East Coast Highway, Corona del Mar, for driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs.
The public records released by the Newport Beach Police Department reveal that the 39-year-old pro surfer was also in possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
Bruce Irons was born in Hanalei, Kauai, in Hawaii. The regular-footer won the 2001 Billabong Pipeline Masters, the 2004 Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau, and the 2008 Rip Curl Pro Search Uluwatu. He is considered one of the best tube riders in the world, and one of the greatest Hawaiian riders of all time.
His brother Andy Irons passed away on November 2, 2010. The official cause of death was reported to be a cardiac arrest caused by an “acute mixed drug ingestion.” He was 32-years-old.
