On Thursday, qualifying day in the snowboard discipline, the sun shone on the athletes who had two training days behind them almost perfect to prepare their line, complete with tricks. “Every year the organizers set up a fantastic World Cup route, so much so that even in the most difficult conditions the park is always perfect”, Isa Jud (head coach of the women’s team SNB, CH).
In the women’s qualifying competition, they were especially the Canadian athletes to dictate the pace. With 88.25 points, the best score of the day, Brooke Voigt was placed in the final in front of teammate Jasmin Baird, followed by the Swiss Isabel Derungs and Sina Candrian who, for years, have been using the snowpark on the Alpe di Siusi . Emmi Parkkisenniemi (FIN) and Nadja Flemming (GER) complete the final, qualifying for the first time at the slopestyle final. On Saturday, at the foot of the Laurin chairlift, these athletes will compete for the podium and the trophy in the form of witches’ brooms.
For the male category, the athletes at the starting line were 55, divided into three heat (groups) to decree the best two in view of the final. The long route through the semi-final will be accomplished by a total of 12 athletes, who will play the last four places: among them also Emil Zulian and Alberto Maffei of the Italian national team. “We are really pleased. The young people of #CasaSeiserAlm (home of the Italian national freestyle) are very motivated and we hope that the audience along the track and the teammates incite them with great fervor “, Carmen Seidner (Seiser Alm Marketing). The triumphs of the individual heat are Ryan Stassel (USA), Nevakivi Aleksi (FIN) and Farrell Lyon (USA) who, with 91.00 points, got the best result.
On tomorrow (Friday), starting at 10.15, will be the time of the freestyle qualifications with the participation of the local matting Silvia Bertagna. “We would like to once again invite residents and guests to participate directly in this freestyle party on the days of qualifying.” (Moritz Gruber, president of the CO – FSA).
After all, the only Italian Slopestyle World Cup is held on the Alpe di Siusi. “We are already working with FIS, Infront and, naturally, with commercial partners, in the growth of this event, so as to ensure our future presence in South Tyrol and in the FIS races calendar”. (MG)
During this event, in keeping with the times, there can not even be an interesting entertaining program. Friday, in fact, will start the warm up party at Santner’s Club, while Saturday the culture house of Siusi allo Sciliar will be the backdrop to the great Legends Music Festival with the headliner Cali P and other DJs and bands.
